What are Photoperiod Feminized Cannabis Seeds?

Photoperiod feminized cannabis seeds are designed to produce female plants that yield buds.

The stability of feminized seeds surpasses that of regular seeds, and you won’t need to separate female from male plants. Our creation method ensures even greater homogeneity in your garden.

These seeds produce plants that respond to the photoperiod, meaning they grow or bloom depending on the hours of light they receive. Generally, they require 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness during the growth period (approximately 30 days until maturity) and 12 hours of light during the flowering stage (at least 45 days).

Additionally, feminized seeds allow you to create mother plants (unlike autoflowering varieties), enabling you to take cuttings from specimens you wish to preserve for years or even decades.

When to Grow Autoflowering Feminized Seeds and When to Grow Photoperiod Seeds?

While each grower ultimately decides based on their needs, preferences, and other factors, here are some tips from our experience.

Indoor Cultivation

For indoor cannabis cultivation, we recommend growing feminized seeds over autoflowering seeds if you seek greater stability.

Growing photoperiod seeds indoors isn't a lengthy process, as you can achieve a high-quality harvest in approximately 2.5 to 3 months.

Moreover, if you choose short-flowering photoperiod strains like Lemon King or Jamaican Dream, you can expect a gratifying harvest in under 3 months. You can also grow autoflowering plants indoors if you prefer, as they offer easy cultivation without needing to transplant from one pot to another.

Outdoor/Greenhouse Cultivation

Photoperiod feminized seeds grow and bloom according to the hours of light they receive. Ideally, we suggest a parallel cultivation of photoperiod feminized and autoflowering seeds, and here’s why:

- Autoflowering seeds do not respond to the photoperiod, allowing you to have 2 or 3 batches of autos to maintain a steady supply while the photoperiod feminized seeds grow and bloom.

- Autoflowering plants tend to offer smaller yields outdoors, but they are useful for obtaining harvests while you cultivate much larger photoperiod feminized plants, allowing for multiple harvests during the peak season and a substantial harvest at the end.

- In locations with a constant 12 hours of light where photoperiod feminized plants may remain smaller, we recommend using artificial lighting during the growth phase to achieve the recommended 18 hours of light. This will unlock the full potential of these seeds, resulting in significantly higher yields per plant.
